2011-2012 ASAP Chess Challenge Saturday Tournaments

Enter the the school at the 53rd St entrance. The tournament will occur in two rooms inside the school. Classrooms on the first floor may be used as team "skittles" areas and are avalaible on a first come, first serve basis.

The Mastery Charter School is easily reachable by public transportation on SEPTA's 10 Trolley Route: taking the trolley west, get off at the corner of Landsdowne Ave and Lancaster Ave. (just past the intersection of 52nd and Lancaster Ave.). 53rd Street is just beyond the stop on Landsdowne Ave. Walk south on 53rd St. for 1.5 blocks and Mastery Charter will be on your right.

Proceed south on 17th Street from Spring Garden St. The Winnett Building is the second building from the corner on the right hand side. It has a curved front. After entering the building, pass the guard stand and proceed up the steps to the second floor. At the end of the hallway, turn right. Go through the double doors. The playing hall is on the left.

Enter the Student Center on 13th St at the double doors just after the steps. Just to the left, take the elevators or steps to the second floor. The tournament space is room 200.

SPECIAL NOTE: The February 5th tournament is a part of ASAP's Checkmate Violence 24 Hour Chess Marathon. After tournament play is complete students with proper permission forms and an adult presence my spend the evening and participate in a simultaneous match, bughouse and speed chess tournaments, and other exciting events throught the evening.

Players attending ASAP Chess Clubs may play for free in non-rated and rated sections. Players in non-rated sections are not required to have a United States Chess Federation membership.  Medallions will be awarded to the winners of those sections.

Registration: 8:30am-9:30am.   Registration ends at 9:30am sharp.  All who register afterwards may be paired manually or may receive 1st round one-half point bye.

All rounds begin at 10:00 am.

Scholastic USCF Rated K-12 Open

4 SS, 4 round Swiss System  (Players play four games against opponents with the same score)

G/45.( Each player has 45 minutes to complete the game.)
